Turkish Basics is our collection of beginner material for anyone new to learning Turkish. While we have more advanced material in other sections of the website, new learners should start with these beginner articles.

They will give you an easier and more fun introduction to Turkish before you inevitably have to dive into the more complex grammar. These posts will be especially useful for people who do not need to learn advanced/fluent Turkish but simply want a basic understanding before traveling to Turkey.

Grammar 101

Learners who are on a more serious path of Turkish learning (ie those who wish to eventually become fluent) can still get a head start by reading these beginner articles, especially those that teach common phrases and basic dialogues.

However, the more nuanced, advanced, and thorough grammar guides (many of which are linked out) is your best bet to get a full understanding of Turkish grammar without skipping over any details.
